Conceived but not Conceived as Conceived

Conceived apart,
unique,
alone,
but within
another.

Hidden,
silent,
without voice.

Unseen by
the unaided eye,
but not unfelt by the
hosting body.

Unprotected
by law.

Uncared for by over
one million...
one million...
hosts a year.

Domicile disturbed.
Body cut, burned, dismembered.
Corpse removed.
Or live birth,
left to die.

Another
red death,
ripped from the womb.

Mother and father,
no longer.

It's over; taken care of.

Unburied, but not
unmourned or unremembered.

Silent, but the
flood of blood
cries out--
and is heard.

That is a very powerful and different type of writing, Dr. Groothuis.
