While at the First Friday Art Walk, I discovered the mixed media, geometrical abstract art of Pam Spika Nicholson. The art on her web page does not include everything displayed at the C.C. Opeila Gallery that night, but gives you a taste of her intriguing work.
Since we are made in God's image, we are creators in a finite sense. We can, thus, bring into being (through art and otherwise) things that did not previously exist, using our God-given talents and the resources of God's world. This fact, I think, sponsors abstract art (at least in the abstract, not all abstract art). There is no reason to think that art need always be representational. For more on this idea, see Francis Schaeffer, Art and the Bible.
I found Ms. Spiker Nicholson's art to be beautiful and allusive, bright and mysterious at the same time.
