This

In our postmodern, hyper-mediated, electronic atmosphere, we have exchanged embodied experiences for instant information packets--growing smaller all the time: from hand-written letter to e-mail; from email to facebook, from facebook to twitter; from twitter to...

Technology allows us to simulate the world without knowing it, without being in it.

Just like this.

"The Cult of the Amateur: How Today's Internet is Killing Our Culture" by Andrew Keen. The N.Y. Times was mildly warm to neutral. The Web was disdianful. I was wildly enthusiastic and thought it spot on.

I gave it 4 or 5 stars. An easy two evening read. A friend used it as the take off for a series of sermons.

Even worse than Neil Postman ever thought. It's no wonder there's no community at church either.

It gets worse. Yesterday I heard a psychologist tell an interviewer people should not use email for important communication. Instead, they should pick up the phone and "speak face to face."

You're right Professor. We are now electrons manipulated by the technology we use. Embodiment apparently is becoming unnecessary.

jdawg,

Not if you're a part of Wellspring Anglican Church in Englewood, CO.

I know about Well Spring. We visit when we are in town. Wife's sister lives around corner.

A timely comic (Dec. 15th)... http://news.yahoo.com/comics/brewster-rockit. I tend to agree, though by nature of my occupation, I am able to type a whole lot faster than handwrite.
