"The Secret" and O!

Oprah has been promoting an egregious New Age piece of bunkum called The Secret. Salon has published a hard-hitting expose. I have written nearly 1000 pages against this worldview since the 1980s (but not that much in recent years; enough is enough). Sadly, it is still with us. It is still deceiving millions. It is still making millions for its more savvy promoters. The serpent in the garden was the very first promoter (Genesis 3:6).

And many think Oprah is a wonderful Christian woman. "You will know them by their fruits," Jesus said, including the fruit of their worldview.

I don't attend the First Church of Oprah which meets on weekdays at 4:00pm locally. It cuts into my study time too much.

I think the biggest thing I have against Oprah is the lack of responsibility she shows in discriminating which schlock see does or does not peddle to her audience.

It's really amazing to me that she will (apparently) buy into anything yet still manages to be a billionaire.

I love (not) how Oprah speaks authoritatively on things she knows nothing about, and the audience claps and cheers all the while.

Rosie O'Donnel is the same way. I heard a great Rosie quote recently where she said: Fundamentalist Christianity is every bit as dangerous to the world as Fundamentalist Islam. What was the reaction? Loud cheers and applause of course.

PEOPLE - THINK FOR A MINUTE! When was the last time you heard a sermon in a Christian church about destroying the enemy by acts of indiscriminate violence if they don't convert to Christianity. Where does Jesus teach this? When was the last time you heard of a Christian terrorist suicide bombing tens of innocent people?

When a culture looks to ignoramuses like O and Rosie for wisdom, it lacks the most basic skills of truth-detection.
