Charles Colson is Gone

Another giant among Christians, Charles Colson (1931-2012), has passed from the land of living and into eternity. Most know Mr. Colson's story, but remember that Colson did more than anyone to carry on Francis Schaeffer's vision of the Lordship of Christ over the whole of life. He started Prison Fellowship, which has a worldwide ministry, wrote or co-wrote many books (including, How Shall We Now Live? with Nancy Pearcey), and was an indefatigable warrior for Christ. There is so much to say, but I call your attention to the forewords he wrote for the 2001 editions of Schaeffer's books, Truth Spirituality and He is There, He is Not Silent.  These are deeply insightful.

I met Mr. Colson in 1999 when I spoke for a Prison Fellowship Board meeting (on the philosophy of technology; he had the vision to address that). He was a gracious and non-nonsense gentleman. He was a good man with a godly mission. He will be greatly missed. And who can take his place?
