Why do some of my students not get the basics of an argument for P?
1. Introduce the issue and its importance.
2. Give the argument form for P
3. Give the evidence for P.
4. Respond to salient objections to P
5. Conclude.

The devil's in the details, I suppose. Constructive feedback would need the details of what's trying to be communicated & how.
