Curmudgeon's Cry
All Americans should be forbidden from writing or saying "awesome" for two weeks. During this time they can take out a dictionary and learn some new adjectives. I doubt they would return to this tired and tiring cliche.
May we please also take the same hiatus from "unbelievable!"? My observation is that almost everything that is described by someone (often an athlete, but not always) as "unbelievable" is, to the contrary, entirely believable, and in some cases, not even all that particularly exceptional.
This reminds me of a comment made by R.C. Sproul in one of the lessons in his "Holiness of God" series. Sproul argued that technically speaking only God can be considered "awesome".
Wow! THAT WOULD BE JUST ....
ReplyDelete... that would be just ...
umm...
errr...
Oh, shoot.
It would be nice or something, I mean, like, you know what I mean, right?

ReplyDelete"Cool" I like the idea.
ReplyDeleteWay cool! Like ya know it's a good idea.
ReplyDeleteI'm game for that. Sounds... Just kidding on the latter.
ReplyDeleteYou keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means. ~Princess Bride
